Biochemistry is a branch of life sciences focused on studies aimed at understanding the mechanisms by which living organisms perform many functions in molecular details. It is interdisciplinary and is fundamental in all branches of life and biomedical sciences. It is a laboratory-based science that combines biology and chemistry. It covers a range of scientific disciplines, including biochemistry, genetics, microbiology, forensics, plant science, and medicine. Biochemistry focuses on processes that take place at the molecular level. It focuses on what goes on in our cells, working on components such as proteins, lipids, and organelles. It also looks at how cells communicate with each other.
Biochemistry is one of the fastest-growing branches of science today, and they seriously affect sectors such as medicine, pharmacology, agriculture, animal husbandry, industry, and the environment in our country, as in all parts of the world. Biochemistry is of paramount importance as it addresses a wide range of fields, and the progress made in this field over the past 100 years is surprising. Almost all biotechnological products are based on biochemistry knowledge.
The department aims to train manpower that can make the necessary contributions in scientific and technological fields in the fields related to physical life, such as physics, chemistry, biology, health sciences, nutrition, and environmental events, who have gained the discipline of effective and productive work and are equipped with entrepreneurial skills. For this reason, the Biochemistry Department responds to this need for qualified manpower trained in the specified fields.
